I was born in Brazil - is it necessary for me to fly into the country with a Brazilian Passport?

Or can I use my British Passport? I've heard I may have to pay a fine if I do not use my Brazilian Passport.

Ive got Brazilian and Italian and always use Brazilian to enter Brasil.
Thats the instruction that they give at the Policia Federal.
Both in and out.
Not sure of the reason.
BTW, British or any other European national do not need a Visa for Brasil.

you can travel with your british passport with no problem...
if you have a valid driver license too!(brazilian)

mh2007br
You can use either the British passport or Brazilian Passport...the only sure is that you will need a passport to get in.

scotgal
u can use your british passport, that way you won't need a visa......
if you have a Brtish passport, there are no restrictions on you entering the UK, you do not need a visa and the production of a British Passport will allow you a smooth entry into the Uk, if you present your Brazilian passport at arrivals, they will ask you where your visa is, the guy below is talking out of his ars.e

scottredhanded
I would strongly recommend using your Brazilian passport when entering the country. Not only will it ensure the fastest way in to the country, but it's also illegal not to use it upon entry. (It's doubtful they'd found out but still getting caught in Brasil is not fun.)

However, when leaving the country, use your British passport. Welcome to having duel citizenship!

P.S.- If you use your British passport to enter the country you will have to pay to get a visa.
