If you go to a Brazilian Consulate web site you will find this answer. Or ask the as a matter of fact. If you don't want to loose or waist money, ask the experts.
Is better that rely on suppositions.
Here's one:

From the duty free shop arriving in Brazil you can buy 12 litters.
Brazil is the only country I know which allow arriving passengers to buy at the duty free, I mean the whole point of duty free is that you are supposed to take it out of the country, hence the removal of Duty + Tax.
But, Brazil is Brazil.
Up to 12 litters and what's the point of bringing it from the US, since it's cheaper here...
Red Label was 12 dollars last time I passed thru.
It also accepts Credit Card, Dollars, Euros, Reais etc.
But be aware that most everything else is expensive.
Cigarettes are very expensive at the duty free, they are a lot cheaper outside in Brazil.
check their site, www.brasif.com.br
Also, they have a pretty wide variety. |

Check with your airline company. You are allow to import U$500 without declare anything. For drinks, the airlines companies has different policies. Check the Duty Free website before to make sure they dont have it. Sometimes it is a lot cheap to buy it there. You can bring in your packed in your suitcase but you will be asked if you have any drinks there and they will ask to open your suitcase and check. |

Caleb is 100% correct.
The duty free shops in Brazil are good, specially in Rio, but only worth buying booze, maybe swiss chocolates and a few other items.
Eletronics and clothing - NO WAY.
Also, you can use Euros and Pounds, but they rob you on the exchance, so stick to dollars or even better: Credit Cards.
Credit Card in Brazil have to use the gov's exchange rate which is always better. |

Bring as much as u want bro, which brand do u talk about? I guess Captain Morgan rum that u guys drink a lottttttttt and we dont have in here... Dont forget that Brazil you will always find a way trough, dont worry about a thing! Its not like USA, get in trouble for everything... If u have a problem at Rio Customs, leave them a bottle of your booze and its all good!! |

My dad said 1 liter, and he comes here almost every 2 months.. He's american and he never declared anything..
He said that if you look like an american, you don't have to declare anything, but if you look like a brazilian, you do..
If you have blue eyes & blonde hair, you can probabaly bring the whole suitcase..
