Just watch your back whatever you do. It really is as bad for crime as people say. We had a great time there, but you need to be aware of your surroundings all the time. Enjoy it, but be safe! |

Hi!
You can find excelent night clubs in 3 places in Rio: Barra, Lapa and Santa Teresa.
Barra is Barra da Tijuca - west zone, a place with big condominiuns, a lot of malls and big markets. There are 2 main avenues there: Av. Sernanbetiba (= Av. Lúcio Costa) is in front the beach. You can find small pubs there. The Av. das Américas is the main avenue of the Barra, with about 20 km. In the beggining (coming from São Conrado), its name is Av. Armando Lombardi. There you will find good nightclubs: Guapo Loco, Devassa, Calibrado, Nuts, Shinanigan's (an Irish Club), all of them side by side. At the other side of the avenue, you will find "Condado de Cascais". It is a circular small building, with pubs and restaurants at first floor. You DO need to know "Academia da cachaça"! There you will find our tipic drink. There is a menu in English 4u! At Condado de Cascais, you will find the Conversa Fiada pub (very nice) the Etore (a good restaurant) and Barril (good beer!)
Have a nice stay. If you need more help in my city, send me an e-mail, ok?

i will however recommend that you do not wear/take any valuable jewels/jewelry with you.
There is a lot of theft that occurs in Rio.
stick to casual items only or of no value (and always keep your wallet hidden) |
