Man, it's a big country, you'll find all kinds of girls. But one thing is for sure, they are usually open to the idea of dating foreigners as long as you're an ok specimen. Plus we're usually very friendly, you won't feel rejected, that's for sure. =]

I think for safest you should follow the other advices given about Rio and surroundings, Minas Gerais and the southern region.

If you come the city of Rio de Janeiro gives preference in accommodating in Barra da Tijuca is a very beautiful beach and it is safe. it is more distant from downtown, but has the best Shopping Centeres and the largest houses of shows. it is more expensive to stay in Barra da Tijuca than to accommodate at Copacabana but it is safer and very entertaining. You should also know Búzios, Paraty and Petrópolis. They are cities really beautiful. and they are all in the State of Rio de Janeiro. If you can visit the state of Minas Gerais, the city of Ouro Preto is fantastic is a colonial city and it was built on a gold mine that can be visited.

I've been to Ouro Preto, it's a very beautiful city, near it there are Mariana, São João del Rei, Congonhas, these cities are very interesting, its architecture is the barroque style.
I don't know these cities in details, but I think that's safe. I'd avoid visiting Rio de Janeiro nowadays because the crime rate is high.
Brazilian people is cool, you'll like them.

1 - you can choose from Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, or south of Brazil (safest!)
2 - the women are normal, I think, if you go to bars, discos, I am sure you will find company
3 - I don't know if they like Puerto Rican men, but I am sure they will like your accent (you speak spanish, don't you?)
4 - try to stay in hostels, like you came alone, I think it will be easy to make some friends...
And welcome to Brazil!!!!

Hi William,
First of all you need to get a visa. You should go to the nearest Brasilian Consulate to get it.
Living in Puerto Rico you probably won't be much impressed by our beaches in general. So maybe it is a good idea to go to Rio de Janeiro for sightseeing. Should you like to experience something totally off-international-tourist-track, you should go to the South of the country, to a region called "Serras Gauchas". The climate is quite European there.
People in Brasil are nice and friendly, just like Puertoricans. Just don't expect our girls to be that easy. if you don't want to buy sex, you're not going to get it that fast. Brasilian girls HATE the fact that foreingers think they'd go to bed with them after the 1st date.
Well, enjoy your trip!
