Moving to Brazil, any ideas of how I could make some money there?

I want to move to Brazil with my wife but I don't really know what I could do there relating to jobs. I don't speak Portuguese although my wife could give me some help with that, and English teacher is off the list.
Anyone that has lived overseas have some good ideas?

Without knowing which their professional abilities and the if instruction degree is difficult advise you.
I believe that you are coming to Brazil as illegal immigrant. That can be a serious problem to get job, to work in Brazil it is necessary the work card, where are made the labor annotations. For a foreigner with instruction won't be impossible to get a good job, but to learn to speak Portuguese is an easiness.

Works the same as you work in America. What do you do?

Well, the first thing you'll need to do is learn the language. After that, if you have a college or university degree and expertise it'll be easier for you to work at a company, because many big companies are keen on having foreign expertise, a key element sometimes in making the business prosper. I've been to a seminar at the American Chamber of Commerce on the subject. May be you can start researching there. If, however, you don't have any PhD or Diplomas it'll be tricky. It all depends on the experience and education you have. Send out your CV to all the places you find interesting, have perseverance and patience. Also, you may want to start you own business, but that's a harder to do in Brazil than in the US due to excessive burocracy and taxes. There are also those who work at foreign NGOs, in that case you can contact an NGO at your town and see if they have a branch in Brazil. It's just an idea.
Also, be sure that your passport has a working permit visa (not sure if that's the term, but you know what I mean, right?).

It depends if you have some money to spare on a business and where you'll live. If near the beach, try to come up with a business that rents jetskis and things like that. A banana boat and stuff also works. Don't know if you have the money, though.

Moving to Brazil because you think it's a country that you can make a lot of money in is like moving to Uganda because you think there is alot of attractive women there.
