Hi Leomar;
been twice to Rio. First I stayed for New Years at Praia Ipananema (4 star) just in front of Ipanema beach. However, it was a great hotel but not that classy. The second time, I went with my family to Sheraton Leblon. Now, that's classy! A bit far from the action (had to take taxi anywhere) but it had 2 huge pools, a semi private beach, a Stern shop inside, a wonderful breakfast buffet overlooking Ipanema, 4 elevators,
in fact, more boutiques inside. Everything I needed for comfort, even a tour operator's desk. It was really wonderful. People say the best hotels are either Copacabana Palace or Cesars Park but you can always go for a visit. I dont like the location of Copacabana Palace and Cesar Park I found it highly overrated. |

Hi there,
it depends on what you want:
Modern Luxury then by all mean the Sheraton Leblon is the polace to go. It is cool, crisp and feels like an oasis in th every busy city. And it is exactly the same as every other Sheraton in the world... maybe a bit more luxurious and the service is fantastic.
However if you want grandeur then there is only on eplace to go: Copacabana Palace. Not as new as Sheraton but boy does it have atmosphere...30's Style...THey easily serve the best Afternoon Tea in SOuth America...Directly oppposite Copacabana Beach...Difficult to describe but I think one should go to Rio to feel the beet and soak in the atmosphere and see people...and there is not better place then Copacabana where you can see the very poor and the very rich mixing. Copacabana Palace is the personification of Style as far as hotels go...Can you tell that I have been and love it:) |

If you've got the cash, it has to be the Copacabana Palace. If you want to stay away from the beach in the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa, try the Solar de Santa. |
