no, it is not. with distance, culture, and time a language will alter its dialect. brazilian portuguese has a different dialect than european portuguese. think of it this way. americans descended from europe in the 1600's, give or take, and americans speak differently than the british (not just accents, but dialect too). Americans dont say thinks like "bollocks". the same goes for brazilians, they descended from europe even before americans, so there are differences there.

I think it has got a difference in pronunciation and a difference in grammar structure

No, it's even more different than the difference between the English spoken in the UK and in the US.

Brazilian Portuguese has very different pronunciation along with very different grammar and words. Personally, I prefer speaking Brazilian dialect. It sounds "mais legal" (cooler)!

Boa sorte no Brasil (se você vai)!
(Good luck in Brazil (if you go)!)

Papa Joe
It's like the differece between spanish in spain and spanish in pueerto rico. The language rules are exatly alike the dialect is different. In Portugal it differs from region to region also

henoninwoog
No, there are variations.

I am learning Portuguese and it is different between the countries. I do wish the Brazilians would stop comparing the differences between their country and Portugal to the the differences between the U.S. and England.

There are differences in the way they use grammar. For example, Brazilians prefer the pronoun before the verb; whereas, the Portuguese prefer the pronoun after the verb.

The grammar structure doesn't differ between the English speaking countries. A pronoun, noun, direct object, verb, indirect object would always be taught the same and used the same way. We may butcher English, but that's due to just having bad grammar.

The only difference between the English speaking countries may be spelling, pronunciation, and the words we use to describe items. An elevator in England is a lift in America. Yes, I said America! Boy am I ornery today. Ha.

No, it is different like British English is different of American English. They think we have accent, we think they have accent lol. We had this Portuguese form Portugal but our immigrants changed our Portuguese. We have also false words like: Camisola cloth to sleep for women in Brazil, in Portugal underpants for men.
