I live in Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre City. The Rio Grande do Sul is one of the Brazilian states of better quality of life, according to the indices for education, health, and crime. Like anywhere, there are records of violence. But comparing with other states, such as Rio de Janeiro and SĂŁo Paulo, the RS which is less account. Here there's strong influence ethnic German, Italian and Polish.
SANTA CATARINA* is as indexes of Rio Grande do Sul. Moreover, the region south of Brazil is the most developed, and one of the richest.
Of the two, I recommend the Rio Grande do Sul, because of the quality of life, culture, climate and human development

Well, Santa Catarina is a great city and as long as your not gonna be living in a "poor neighborhood" (and I mean POOR LOL, there are lots of poor people in Brazil, way different from AMERICANS but sometimes they are really nice but sometimes they dont) I guess ur safe, dont be friends with everyone but be FRIENDLY, say hi and thats it, dont invite strangers to ur house and get to know people really good before talking about ur life or inviting them over 4 dinner or whatever. I mean every country has its ups and downs, I mean America is a great place to live and laws are kinda harsh but its kinda different in Brazil, laws are not so harsh but its still the best place and most beautiful place to live (at least thats what i think) even though I get afraid sometimes, but crimes happen everywhere, u just need to be careful, dont get involved with "bad" people, dont get involved in fights and stuff and ur good to go!
