simple...spend 2 to 3 max in Rio and the rest in Salvador. Rio is much like New York, its nice and has some great sites, but after that its just not a vacation spot. like NY its overpopulated and pretty hectic. Salvador is more of a vacation spot where you will be able to enjoy the beaches.

simply this is how Brazil works: Big cities like NY, Rio and Sao Paulo (I'm from Sao Paulo). North of those cities you have African influence and beautiful beaches and smaller cities. South you have the same beaches and smaller cities but the influence in European. Anywhere you end up the beer will be cold, the women beautiful and your time unforgetable... just please be safe and don't make it obviouc that you are tourist. Keep you camera in a bag, not a lot of money on you and don't flash your wallet, watch or jewlery...the people are simple but the thiefs take advantge of tourists and give us all a bad name/fame/reputation. Thiefs are more common in the big cities like Sao Paulo and Rio, so i guess this is another reason why you do not want to stay too long out there.

Hope I didn't scare you, you'll have a blast...enjoy

No Way ! 6 days Salvador and 3 days Rio ! .. lol

i love salvador.. my favorite city.. more so then Rio.. i find Salvador more beautiful then Rio.. but thats just my opinion ..
why dont you just divide the days up evenly... 4 and 4 maybe ?

both are fantastic places.. ! Rio is very nice.. and its upbeat.. with many night clubs and much to do. its always goin..

salvador is good to learn history .. and its very interesting.. salvador is the heart of Brazil and a major part of the culture.
its more laid back.. very relaxing atmosphere..

you cant go wrong with either place..

Boa Sorte

Where to go and how long to stay all depends on your interests. What do you want to do on your trip?
