I stayedf at the Sheraton Rio Hotel and Towers at Leblon beach. Their rates run around $180-200. It is a very good hotel, great view, accomodations and good location. I recommend you to go to this website where you will find reviews and traveler pictures of teh accomodations. This will definitely help you to make the right decision, even if you have to pay a little bit more than $100.

I'd recommend you The Plaza Hotel in Copacabana. I've been there for a few months. It's a four star hotel and the standard room costs officially U$165 (couple), but you can get one for about U$100 (negotiate in advance I'm sure you will get a better rate).
