A very nice place ... Curitiba is often referred to as the most modern city in Brazil -- they have the country's most advanced public transportation system, incredibly efficient street and garbage cleaners, and something you don't find very often in Brazil .... dog catchers. As for the city itself ... there are any number of very interesting toursit attractions within the city from parks to shopping to restaurants. Since Curitiba is also close to the coast you can easily go to any number of costal tourist attractions quite easily ... I would suggest Ilha do Mel, and Paranagua.
The international airport in Curitiba is very nice (but smaller, obviously, than Rio or Sao Paulo), and you can find any number of affordable hotel either close to the airport or in the city center. The locals are very friendly so if you have any questions I think you will find they are more than helpful.
