yes, speedos are very popular in brasil. i was in rio for 2 weeks in march of this year. i am from fort lauderdale florida where the speedo is only popular among tourists usually from europe. it is actually interesting that the brazilian culure is very confident about their bodies. overweight men and woman have no problem wearing a speedo or a bikini. this doesn't mean that you should go out and buy a speedo just because you are traveling to brasil. feel free to wear whatever you normally feel comfortable with here in the states.

like vanessa said most speedo wearer's in brazil are middle age and older guys but in rio most guys do wear speedo's but some wear boardshorts over their speedos and just wear speedos to tan in. they call speedos sungas in brazil

Yes! Speedos are ah-mazingly popular in Brazil, but mostly with the middle-aged and older men. Young men and teens use surf shorts to the beach. It's kinda hard to find a 16 year old wearing a speedo though... get it? Hope I helped!

Vanessa is right, but may I say that in Rio you'll see more often speedos and young people in speedos. But mostly young people don't like speedos.
Also a few runners wear speedos with nike tennis, witch is really funny.
