Swimming in Brazil? In June/July/August?

I was wondering if it's normal to be swimming in Brazil (Sao Paulo State, or Rio) in the winter months (summer months here). This summer I'm going as an exchange student and want to know if I'll look like a freak swimming in the beaches in South/Southeastern Brazil. I know it's colder in the South, so that's why I'm wondering. Obrigado!!!!!!!! (Thank You!!!!)

Yes , you can go swimming .
The problem is not the temperature , but the strong undercurrents in the sea, which are dangerous

Hi Devin! It really depends. São Paulo can get cold (avg. 13°C) in the Winter, but you can go swimming. Unless it is pouring out rain you'll see people swimming in the beaches.
In Rio you'll see people swimming always. You'll be able to go swimming everyday there. The only difference in Rio during the Winter season is that it gets more rain. Still hot.
Hope it helps.
De nada.
