Clothing: Hering, Forum, M. Officer
Cosmetics: Natura (door-to-door, technically not a store)
Furniture: Casas Bahia, Lojas Marabras
Magazines: Lojas Americanas. Usually each region has a stronger local magazine.
Internet Shopping: Submarino.com.br
Electronics: Casas Bahia, Fast Shop (sort of Best Buy).

Some national stores has a broad range like Carrefour (just like Wallmart), Lojas Americanas, Submarino.com.br (our Brazilian Amazon), Casas Bahia (like US Sears).
Casas Bahia has such a popular appeal because they finance the sales up to 30x.

Also, clothing stores are usually the same overall the country at big malls. But there are still a market share for smaller stores.

Food Chains like McDonalds and Bobs (brazilian fast food) are common in many cities. But there are always regional cuisine restaurants. It's very common restaurantes with self-service (by weight) and buffet service (all you can eat) and famous PF (for prato feito), a portion of basic daily meal (rice, beans, meat, eggs and green salad).

Although internet sales has been rising in the last decade, most customers prefers to buy at physical stores. This Xmas we had a great sale of clothes, shoes and food.

Our commerce are pretty much like US, except in a smaller scale.

Casas Bahia (Department Store, but sells mostly furniture) Wall-Mart, Carrefour... Renner (Fashion Store). I think these are the mainly ones. That's a lot of Mc Donald's here too.
I live in a 800.000 inhabitants city, Goiânia, and we have more than 8 Mc Donald's here. There's Burguer King too, but not too many.

Havaianas, Natura, Osklen.

Casas Bahia.
