Unpeeled Shrimp?? |
I traveled with a group to Natal for a weekend. We heard it was the "Shrimp Capital of the World" so of course we had to eat some...which wasnt hard being that it is on every menu.
Do people in this region eat all of their shrimp with the shell still attached? We got some pretty strange looks as we tried to peel or shrimp...especially when it was in a saucy dish made to be served over rice. |

I am from Brazil and I love shrimp. sometimes i peel it but most of the time i just take of the head, it tastes nicer with the peel plus its quicker, just dont eat the heat as the **** of the shrimp is on the head.
Thats just a cultural matter, I live in England and here everybody eat potatoes with the peel on, in brazil everybody unpeel potatoes, so no worry, its just a matter of culture and Im sure people in Natal are used to foreigners eating shrimp unpeeled, maybe something else brought their attention to you... |

In Brazil we dont peel off the shrimp, well most of us.
Maybe beacuse people who live there eat it so much and so frequently, that it would be a waste of time, lol

So two shrimp were by a coral reef when a rogue wave knocked one of them against the reef, and he fell unconscious. His poor bro became distraught when he couldn't revive him immediately. Fearing another wave, he managed to lift him onto his own back to take him farther into the reef. A squid swam by and laughed.
"Who'd have thought there'd ever be an ebi strong enough to lift another ebi," said the squid.
