Was the "City of Men" tv series a realistic depiction of the favelas in Rio?

And is it true that 80/% of the Black and mixed population live there?

The great majority of the people in the favelas are hard working people. What you saw in the movie were small groups fighting among themselves to control the drug trafic. Yes, it can be quite rough, depending where you go to....

Most part of the favela's people are honest and work very hard. The movie however was a very realistic approach about the drug and social problems.

The series reflects the reality, however it is not 80% of the Brazilian population lives in those conditions. I believe that 30% of the population of the great cities live in that way. In the interior there is poverty however it is not as in the slums of the great cities.
