Try contacting the local American consulate in the city you want to get merried. I highly recomend you do not marry in another country just to be cool - unless you're a Hollywood actor. My sister (Brazilian) got married to an American in the states and when she divorced it was a pain to get the paper work through. She eventually had to fly over to the US just to get it done with. Now imagine two gringos down here trying to get paperwork through. Yeah, yeah, yeah... you two love each other and will never divorce yap yap yap.
Here is the link to the American embassy and cosulates here:
http://www.consulados.com.br/consulados/usa.html
when dialling from there, use coutry code 55 and dial starting after the "xx".
PS: Congratulations!!!! Hurray!!!! Feliz Navidad!!! |

I think your only luck would be in getting married legally (on paper) in the States, then having the wedding in Brazil. Congrats |

I am told that it is a long painful process, from a lawyer in Brazil. My wife and I contemplated getting married in Brazil, then Italy, and then we picked a third option. After we were intrigued with Italy, we planned our trip and set up a "Wedding Ceremony" at a castle that isn't anything legal, but it is a wedding and celebration. A week before our trip, we quietly went to the courthouse and got married legally in the States, although today we use our Italy photos and say the date of our wedding was the date our our legal marriage in the States. So, in the end we mixed the two together and now, to everyone, we got married in Italy!
I was waaaay easier that way. |
