And also is it true that it is dangerous to own a GPS navigation device in Brazil because criminals will think you are rich and break into your car to steal it. |

I live in the U.S., in a upper middle class neighborhood. Our GPS was stolen in front of our house over night because we forgot to lock the car...so, I don't think it matters where you are...
I believe only the well off in Brazil can afford to buy a GPS. A very small percentage of the population. |

Depending on how you define "afford," the percentage is most likely relatively low. As a rule of thumb, you can probably assume that anyone who can afford to buy a car, can afford to buy a GPS.
I'm not sure that it is dangerous to own a GPS ins Brazil...it is probably more dangerous to own and drive a nice Mercedes or BMW. Regardless, y if one does own a GPS, they should never leave it visible in the car. It is probably also advisable to hide it before you reach your final destination.
Do you ask because you are considering purchasing a GPS? If so, I recommend http://www.gpssystemsonline.com as a shopping research resource. |

You'd be dumb to leave a GPS in your car in any city, that's why I don't own one and we live in London. There is a large emerging middle class, Brazil is one of the most developed countries in South America and they love gimmicks more than any other nation on earth. |

simple answer to this question: anyone who leaves a GPS in a visible place inside the car, is going to be a victim of a burglary anywhere in the world. It's just stupid to do so. |

How much nonsense.
I am putting Fiat Linea's propaganda that is a popular car sold in Brazil that comes with GPS integrated in the panel as series item. For law the Brazilian cars are forced to be manufactured with finder by satellite. And for law lack that regulates the section GPS it is not still obligatory item, for that to happen is necessary that there is a norm of the used maps and above all as it would be made the updating of routes, as that it still was not made the item cannot be obligatory of production series.
And who pays R$ 80.000,00 or R$ 120.000,00 for a car is evident that is a rich person and no one with GPS that cost R$ 700,00 that will get the attention of thieves.
