What are some must do fun and amazing things in Brazil?

I am a 26 year old American man visiting Brazil, between late December and early January, with other men and women in their mid-20's. We are looking to have fun and experience the unforgettable in both the cities and in the great outdoors. Where are some places that you have visited in your own travels or been to as a local that you can suggest? Cheers.

So far, we have planned to go to Rio, Sao Paulo and the Amazon (I know the Amazon is rather large and could encompass any number of areas but that's as far as we've planned so far).

I lived in Rio de Janeiro, it's a great place you can go up sugar loaf mountain and go see the statue of Christ overlooking Rio. Some people go hang gliding (I never tried it but it seams real fun). There are some little beach towns close to Rio that are nice such a Parati and Buzios. I suggest skipping Sao Paulo (stinky big dirty city) and heading to southern Brazil. In Southern Brazil you can see the world's second or first largest dam, (foz do Iguassu). If you go all the way to foz do Iguassu, i suggest going to visit the argentinian side of the falls. Argentina is a very nice country as well. At foz do Iguassu you can go under part of the falls by boat and maybe take part in rock climbing! There are also many nice european towns in Southern Brazil like Joinville, Gramado and Canela.
