Brazil like all places has its good and bad points.
I traveled to the city of Curitiba. The capital city of the state Parana. This is a big city. Very clean, good public transportation, upwardly mobile.
After a few days there I formed the opinon that this city puts San Francisco, California to shame. While there is no water front there is a lot to see and do here. Very cosmopolitan city with a lot of culture. If I had the money I would live there.
As is with most countries there are good places and bad places. This is one of the good places.
I am ashamed to admit, but I speak very little Portuguese. Eu falo um poco de portugues. Bao tarde. |

Brazil is a very beautiful country, with amazing natural beauty...
unfortunately, though its economic status is terrible, crime rate high, poverty high, unemployment high, but very happy people with constant smiles on their faces and always happy to see and help you....you should visit sometime....Yes I do still speak Portuguese after all these years.... |

I am from Brazil and I just love it. We have the biggest carnival parties on the planet, the music is the best in the world, the beaches are gawjuss, we have a very famous modern architecture the UN headquarters was build by Niemayer he is from Brazil. And we have the ultimate jungles and mountains.
This is my home and I am not gonna move. |

I loved it when I visited Sao Paolo and Rio for Carnaval 2004. The people are friendly, the scenery is beautiful and the prices were reasonable...I'll be going back! As for the language, I speak English, German and Spanish and communication was not a problem. The level of education on average in the commercial areas(where you should be going!) is very high, just as any cosmopolitan city. Stay out of the favelas unless you are well versed in combat and speak fluent Portuguese. |
