What does "Polvilho" mean in the sentence "Biscoito de Polvilho"?

During my recent visit to Brazil I bought a bag of "BamBa - Biscoito de Polvilho". I assume BamBa is the brand, and Biscoito mean biscuit (even though the ring-shaped snack looks like mini-donuts), but what does Polvilho mean? i.e. what have I been eating! ;D

Thanks.

Hi there!

Polvilho is a cassava flour, this biscuit you have eaten in Brazil is very popular for break fast and snack, often followed by 'cafézinho' ( small cup of coffe) and we also love to eat those with iced cold mate tea on the beach.
You probably ate the industrial biscuit, doesn't taste so good than the one our grandmothers bake in the morning!
the best industrial of those biscuits are from a company called 'Biscoito Globo' they are good, but still not better than the homemade!!
I am sending you the official site of Biscoito Globo to you have a look!

Polvilho is flour made from mandioca - yucca root in the US. It's terribly difficult to find in the US (at least in my part of the country). The closest substitute I have found is tapioca starch, if you're looking to try to recreate the recipe at home.

V.
Polvilho is a flour made of manioc, and is used to do biscuits, breads, and lots of things.
Manioc is the main food of the indians.

Sorry I do not speak english well I am Brazilian.

Polvilho is Manioc flour.

Polvilho biscuit:

3 glasses of sweet manioc flour
A pinch of • salt
• 6 eggs
• 1 oil glass
Preparation of the Income In a pot, mix 1 glass of water, the oil, the salt and light to the fire. Let to boil for 2 minutes and remove. In a big bowl, put the manioc flour and, on him, spill the oil mixture, still hot, and go mixing with a wood spoon. Let to cool for 30 to 40 minutes. Increase to the mass already cold the eggs, one to a, and manipulate for 15 minutes. The mass should be easily a little. Transfer the mass for a confectioner sack with fine beak and make the cookies in an anointed baking pan. Light to roast in very high oven for 15 minutes, or until that it are very dry and slightly gold.
