The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has a great website with vaccination information related to travel. Their site is here: http://www.cdc.gov/travel/vaccinat.htm

You can use the map to pick the location you are traveling to, and they will provide you with the specific "injections" that you need. They specify which are "required" and which are "recommended" and also suggest that you see your doctor 4-6 weeks before your trip to allow the shots to take effect.

watch for

1.Need yellow fever jab
2.Need anti malaria tablets
2. watch for Dengue-carried by mosquitos.

P:S no drug cartels kidnapping any Amercians in Brazil, they are kidnapping locals, rich entrepéneurs.

brasilian girl
Yellow fever and it's valid for 10 years.

CDC is a good web site. From my experience, no vaccines are required if coming from U.S. I would recommend getting an hepatitis A vaccine. If you are going to take malaria medication, I would go with malarone. Obviously consult with your G.P. for your own safety as to medications and shots and when to get them. Have a good trip.

yellow fever... that's sure!!!

commonsense
Your health insurance provider ( like Kaiser for example ) can answer this, if none, your personal doctor needs to get you the shots and they have to be documented. Also, be careful if you are American. Drug cartels in Brazil are kidnapping Americans and holding them for ransom. Make sure you are with someone at all times, preferably a local, and especially at night. You can check with the State Department on travel advisories.
