What is the best beach in Rio? If I go to Rio in mid-August, will it be too cold for swimming in the ocean? |
Actually, I think I got the order mixed up for this question:)
If I go to Rio in mid-August, am I going to miss out on seeing tons of hot women on the beach in string bikinis? Also what is the best beach in Rio? |

The hottest place is in Ipanema, just in front of Posto 9. However, for me the best beach is in Tijuca, it's called the beach of Pepe. |

For your purpose i think barra beach at a part called "pepe" is the best, followed by Ipanema and copacabana. The most beautiful beach tought is called prainha because there are no buildings around, but you need a car because is a bit far.
Dont forget also to go to a nearby city called Buzios, it also have great beaches/nightlife with a small city resort kind of ambient.
Buy a book called How to be a Carioca and ask for Skol, the best brand of beer around., you will be surprise off the price of it on the supermakets. |

Upscale & beautiful Barra da Tijuca. Barra it's a must see when it comes to best beaches in the world. Sometimes, the water is a litlle bit cold. If you need more info, don't hesitate to email me. Have fun in Rio. |

The best beach in Rio to actually get a tan is the beach at Barra da Tijuca. But, as a tourist attraction I consider Copacabana and Ipanema. Leblon is more a family area, not that many tourists. Cariocas (people from Rio) love the beach year-round so don't worry. The winter isn't cold at all, so for people used to the cold, it's perfect. |

it is Ipanema Beach...posto 9 -lifeguard station 9...copa is ok but ipanema is happening! Park yourself in front of cesar park hotel. On a sunny day there will be folks there catching every ray they can....there will still be parties and street things going on....those gals put on the strings every chance they get. The ocean there is always a bit cold to me and a bit rough. Just being there is the thing....there is something in the air there.....the culture - the people - the food - the whole thing is just awesome.... |

For me, the best beach in Rio is Copacabana, is very beautifull, follow of Ipanema, Leblon, Barra da Tijuca. In August make +- 80 ºF. very few rain. |

Best beach would depend on what you are going for. For people watching the prettiest are at Ipanema, around tower 9, while Copacabana is a bit more ghetto. The weather can get fairly warm, so you could see plenty of people on the beach, even if it is middle of "winter" there. You can swim in the water, but that would depend on how cold the water you are used to swimming in would be. There are also the beaches out past Barra da Tijuca, but there's hardly anybody out there. |
