It's a beautiful day
|
I'm Brazilian, and we speak Portuguese in Brazil.
Spanish is just spoken at cities that really have borders with Brazil, like let's say between Paraguay and Brazil and Uruguay and Brazil (all other countries in S. America speak Spanish).
If you didn't know that Portuguese is our official language, you'll be very surprised then if I tell you that in the south of Brazil there are entire Italian and German colonies in which they just speak those 2 languages. So, I would say that German and Italian is more spoken than Spanish.
Plus, the people who speak Spanish and Portuguese at the "border cities" may end up speaking what we call "portunhol" which is a blend of the two languages, and not too formal (believe me). |

Portuguese , with an unique accent and many words you won´t find in other Portuguese speaking countries.
Very few people can understand Spanish. I mean, some people will understand, but will not be able to talk back in Spanish, and their answers in Portuguese will not be easy to understand for Spanish speaking people. |

The main language spoken in Brazil is PORTUGUESE no Spanish.
History
It is because Brazil was colony of Portugal for many years. D. PedroI got our Independence from Portugal and came King of Brazil.
ok... We have European Portuguese that is spoken in Portugal and in other contries that were colony of Portugal but NO Brazil.
Brazil had many immigrants that changed our words a little, so there are two kinds of Portuguese - Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese. However we understand each other the most times when a Brazilian and a Portuguese talk :)
Faccto - European Portuguese
Fato - Brazilian Portuguese.
Both mean fact, see? We write different sometimes. Brazil, Portugal and the others Portuguese speakers are trying make an agreement for both kind of Potuguese (European and Brazilian) to be accept in both places. If you write in Brazilian portuguese in Portugal would be wrong and in Brazil write in European Portuguese would be wrong too so they are trying an agreement to accept both in both countries. |

The one and only widely spoken language in Brazil is Portuguese, not Spanish. However the Portuguese we speak here is quite different from the one spoken in Portugal, Angola, Mozambique and etc and some of us would rather call it Brazilian.
Brazil, is a huge country just like the US and we also have different accents within the country and regional slangs and idioms.
Take care! ;-P |

No, it's not!
The main language spoken in Brazil is the Portuguese.
As a matter of fact, part of the Brazil was of the Spanish in the colozination, but the natives of the Spanish part never spoken Spanish.
All Brazil speaks Portuguese. The others languages are spoken by immigrants of each country in the world (but they speak Portuguese, for sure), tourists and Indian's dialects (tupi etc.). Ok?
Stay with God... |
