January is the hottest month.I would not recommend Rio. Its a very dangerous place. Its impossible to relax or take anything valuable to the beaches. I would recommend Porto Seguro farther north. Its a low rise generally underdeveloped resort with a friendly atmosphere. The town comes alive at night and the beaches are great.

Usually, it is very hot because of the season. There are also many turists, so its not quite peaceful. I recomend Fernando de Noronha, Bonito or Jericoacoara, because these are beatiful places. try to get informed about them.

Weather's very nice, especially in the Rio de Janeiro vicinity. There are many nice resorts(depending on what you're looking for specifically) with different price ranges, as well.
