SP is a business center, lots of cultural activities, museums, shows, good shoppings and different faces for its communities(italian, japonese...) good restaurants, and night options for sophistication, if you will. it's known as the 'jungle of stones' city...very metropolitan style yet you have green parks(Ibirapuera) to meeting with nature...extreme high volume of car traffic at all times, except holidays.

Depends of what you want. São Paulo doesn't have any beaches, but it has a lot of diversities.
If you wanna go to Japan, just go to Liberdade (it means freedom).
I think that São Paulo it's like NY, I never went to NY, but I know It's.
You can find every kinds of people, from Brazil or the World.
I don't know if I help you.

I am an American who lived in Sao Paulo for a couple of years - there is so much to see and do in Sao Paulo and it really depends on your interests -
museums, architecture, parks, restaurants, futebol (Sao Paulo, Corinthians, or Palmeiras), neighborhoods (Avenida Paulista, Jardins, Liberdade, Luz, Morumbi), street markets and hippie fairs, shopping, theater, etc.

I might suggest this website to assist:

São Paulo is a huge city with several things to do and lots of places to go.
Excellent restaurants, many shopping malls, museums, pubs...
The only thing São Paulo doesn´t have are beaches...but you can reach it in just 1hr. driving.
