What opportunities are there for computer science grads in curitiba, brazil or nearby? |
I'd been researching places to live if I ever moved outside the US and Curitiba, BR seems very nice. What is it like living there? especially if you are an American. Thanks Additional Details hey thanks for the great responses! In addition to english I know a lot of spanish, and would learn portuguese (it seems very similar to spanish), I'm from the midwest and curitiba seems like it'd be more like that as opposed to other big cities in brazil (more conservative) plus i'm used to cold weather here with snow, so I'd like to live somewhere warmer but not too hot. And I love sports, especially soccer so I obviously know Brazil loves that sport, but also volleyball and lots of other sports. Plus the beaches and other beautiful scenery it seems like a great place to live. Any more info about living and working around curitiba would be appreciated, especially advice for americans, and if you know more specifically about computer science/ IT/ programming/ web design type careers or similar. Or working for an american company located in brazil if you would still make the same as in the USA, etc. Thanks! |

In first place you have to speak some Portuguese, I think that you would have success, Curitiba is a modern city, but at the same time conservative, only has a thing that I should can be seen, in Curitiba snows.

Curitiba is surely a nice city. It's calmer than the other big Brazilian metropolis like São Paulo and Rio, and yet very dynamic and attractive. The climate is milder than in other regions, because of its height (aprox. 950 mt) and latitute (25º25'40"S), and its population is mostly caucasian of European descent (Polish, Ukrainians, Italians, Portuguese etc)
Computer science grads have a lot of opportunities in Brazil as a whole and of course that means Curitiba as well. I guess being American is a plus, but speaking Portuguese would be required.
Good luck. |

well first of all i have never been there but my boyfriend mom lives there and she loves it!!
, im from rio, you have to basically know what its like to live like a native, and it could be nice there if you like country because Curitiba is like Texas in the U.S, they aren't very violent there but always have common sense with your stuff, and you should definitely take a portuguese class if you don't know a word of portuguese, if you don't know the basic portuguese you might as well be wearing a shirt steal from me now.
and plus since your america you will with out a doubt get a job, brazilians always look for American workers!!!
but in the end i know that Curitiba is an amazing place to live and very they are very calm there too,
don't fall in love with a Brazilian Girl or Boy, you'll never want to leave lol!! |
