Brazil is a country of contrasts. Contrasts between richs (2% of the population) and poor (85%), forests and metropolitan centers, highly developed areas and other areas living in medieval conditions. Contrasts from the different races and skin colors living together - with no segregation and a high degree of tolerance.
Brazil is unique, and emerged from unique historical conditions.
What represents Brazil is our people: intelligent, beautiful, multiracial and open minded, not exactly happy as many people could think, but having a real will for happiness.

The colors of the Brazilian Flag -- it has a large yellow shape diamond on a green background. The colour green stands for the lush fields and forests of Brazil. The colour yellow represents its wealth in gold, which is found in many areas of the country. In the center of the yellow diamond there is a blue sphere that symbolizes the usual navy blue sky that one finds in the tropical areas of the Earth. In that sky there are the stars which represent the capital of the country and its federal states. Actually there are 26 states and the capital (27 stars). In the middle of the sphere there is a white banner with a legend: "Ordem e Progresso", that means "Order and Progress".

Also the Hino Nacional/National Anthem - The Brazilian National Anthem is sufficient grounds for the fame of its composer, Francisco Manuel. Through its admirably warm and spirited melody, it took its place as the national anthem before it was accorded any official recognition.

I might also suggest that the Cristo Redentor statue above Rio is a symbol for all of Brasil. As too is the Amazon River. Perhaps the coffee bean, futebol/soccer, capoeira, Carnaval, and Sugar Loaf/Pao de Acucar.

The cynic inme would also mention the favelas.

and our national flag. all this "tropical paradise" "hot girls" whatever the hell they say is a lie. its what the media makes it. and when they come here, they get robbed and realize this is a 3rd world country just like the rest of south and central america. and they dont even KNOW about the favelas.
