In Salvador, the Carnival is mostly in the streets.
There are "Trios Eletricos" (basically a huge truck, with sound equipment and a stage on top) and singers and bands perform there.
In order tó get a good place to watch you have to buy an "Abadá" which is actually a T-shirt and allows you into pre-determined areas.
People say its more truthfull to real carnival.
I dont buy it, for me the parade in Rio is better, more confortable etc...
But if you are young and into partying, maybe Salvador is the place for you. |

when i spent carnaval in brazil it went like this..
everything closed down. You go out to huge parties at night, dance to pagode and axe etc etc, drink a lottt, go home at like 6 AM. sleep all day. and do it again
its possibly the best brazilian holiday ever. haha |

The Salvador is street parties, have many carnival cars and music. And free.
The Rio is more confortable and security, because it's a closed pared, but you need pay.
The Rio have other places, beachs and other sort places. |

The Carnival in Salvador is the best of Brazil cause you're free to do anything you want. Dance, Drink and kisssssssssssssss!!! Bring a confortable pair of sport shoes, shorts and shirts, no pocket, no expensive watches, cameras etc if you're going to pass it on the streets, try to sleep at least 6 hours per day, drink water as much as you can between on beer ond other, kiss all the cute that smile at you, say hello to everybody, and dance dance dance! visit www.centraldocarnaval.com.br to buy the ''Blocos'' shirts, I council you to joy Crocodilo or Papa or Eva Blocos. You can buy one shirt from each bloco for each day. That's the best choice. |
