What to do in Sao Paulo on a Sunday in July? |
I'm going to Sao Paulo for work in July, and we will arrive early in the morning on Sunday. We will have most of the day to wander around and see some sights. We will be staying on Av. Brigadeiro Faria Lima. Are there nearby museums that are open on Sunday? Any restaurant suggestions? (we are there for 2 nights before flying to Barretos).
Thanks! Additional Details My concern is that it is a catholic country, so stores and other places may be closed. Also looking for something nearby so we don't have to deal with too much transportation. |

On Sunday go to the fair at Praça da República. It's very well known and will have a wide variety of things to see and possibly buy. You can take the subway there from Av. Brigadeiro Faria Lima. Another great choice is the modern art museum on Avenida Paulista. (you can walk or take the subway) On top of that they have an antiques fair underneath and on the neighboring streets. That museum is open on Sundays from 9am to 7pm. (http://masp.uol.com.br/)
As for eating try any local rodizio (typical all you can eat meat lunch/dinner) that your hotel recommends. There are several good ones in the area. |

My mom was born in Sao Paulo and I go there with my daughter every now and then. Sao Paulo is like L.A.
There is a lot of traffic, pollution and the best are the restaurants. I was going to say that I would suggest to stay somewhere in Jardim Paulistano instead of Jardim Paulista.
As now I realize that that is where you are staying, then you will need to get to the musems. Just be attentive with your cash. I suggest you should take a credit card and no jewels.
Unfortunately, wherever you go to in Brazil there are a lot of thieves. I spent 20 days in all over Italy and I had the same problems there too. They steal or they may rob.
Brazilian churrascaria is the best to go to eat, however it has all kinds of food. The best German one is called Juca.
I loved the Greek ones, and the Japanese restaurants are the great fashion now...
Good luck and enjoy your trip. Remember temperature is on the 15 C...cold! |

you are staying in the 4th largest city in the world. there are a million things to do in Sao Paulo on Sunday.
There right now is winter, so it will be about 50 - low 70's.
you can go to the fera at the praca republica. there are museums. there might even be a soccer game. |

I am from Rio, São Paulo is near of us. There are great restaurants (I heard they do great Pizzas), many buildings. Brazil could be a Catholic country however it has many Protestants now a days. São Paulo is very big, I am sure you will find something to have fun. |
