I live in Brazil and travel all across Brazil. The only language that is spoken EVERYWHERE is Portuguese. Not Spanish, and it does not depend on the side of Brazil you are in as one person suggested.
However like all countries which have borders (and Brazil has a very large border with Spanish speaking counties as well with as English in Guyana, French in French Guiana and Dutch Suriname) in border cities many people speak both languages so that they can do business more effectively. Also in some VERY remote areas there are some Indigenous languages (including Tupi Guarani) spoken by a very few people. In São Paulo, much like NYC there are communities that speak only Japanese, Chinese and Italian. Other communities may exist too.
None of this changes the fact that Portuguese is spoken every where in Brazil. |

PORTUGUESE. It´s the official language and, although very similar to Spanish, there´s NO Spanish in Brazil. Of course there's accents according to all different regions, but is all Portuguese .
A lot of people confuse Portuguese with Spanish in Brasil, but is the only country of Latin American that speaks Portuguese. |
