Why?

Like most colonies, the native people no longer wanted to be owned and exploited by a foreign power (for Brazil, that was Portugal).

I really didn't understand your question... Do you have anything against Brazil or brazilians?

In a famous scene at the shore of the Ipiranga river on September 7, 1822, Dom Pedro had to choose between returning to Portugal in disgrace or opting for independence. He tore the Portuguese blue and white insignia from his uniform, drew his sword, and swore: "By my blood, by my honour, and by God: I will make Brazil free." Our motto, he said, would be "Independência ou Morte!" ("Independence or Death!").

Why??? Why any country become a country itself???

a98270
this was back on sep/07/1822 the declaration of independence from Portugal, very popular date for brazilians, so the umbilical political/financial cord was finally broken.
"O grito do Ipiranga" when Dom Pedro louded said" Independence or Death". Very bravous guy, he was the one who said it , even though this could happen anyway.

1st answer: Why not?
2nd answer: Brazil became a country, not a colony anymore, when Queen Maria I from Portugal died, in 1816. The new king was going to be crowned in Rio, not in Lisbon - so because he could not be crowned the King of Portugal out of Portugal, he changed the name and the concept of the kingdom: it became the Kingdom of Brazil, Portugal and Algarves. So, Brazil became a kingdom and a country together with Portugal, not only a colony anymore.

you mean, thank God they became a country?

Duh, most colonies become a country eventually.

Sorry, but I think I didnt understand your question. It seems you have anything against Brazil or it people.

Maybe you mean: How have Brazil become a country?
If you mean it, Brazil, like another countries (USA, for example) was tired to be explored by another country, rested to be a colony( in it case, was Portugal's colony), so they've decided to be independent. Simple like this.
