Re

Why do some people still travel to Brazil for vacations when it's obviously way too dangerous?

Just a week ago, I saw on the news that a british teenager was killed and dismembered in Brazil.

I would never go there for fear of getting kidnapped and having my severed fingers sent to my family for ransom money.
Additional Details
Mohammed d'ali, the guy that killed the british teen, was Brazilian.

I think I read that as well. She was killed by her drug dealer boyfriend who she threatened to expose. Most murders are committed by spouses/partners. Hanging out with drug dealers is dangerous anywhere.

Nobody is going to cut your fingers and request money... this type of stuff happens for a reason beyond our knowledge, its usually some shady stuff that happens and we never hear the full story. As usual, the mainstream media is always out there to make an impact on people like you and others that get scared easily. I've been to Brazil (Sao Paulo and Belo Horizonte) before and am waiting to go back again before my visa expires, actually my wife wants to move there, that's how much she loves it and it has nothing to do with the tourist areas either. Most of the people are premiditated targets due to something they intentionally did. So to answer your question, people still travel because when its your time to go, its your time to go. How sadder would it be if a person never travels outside the US due to fear of something like this happening to them, when at the end they get robbed and killed for an empty wallet about 2 blocks from their home.

Wait one moment, the English teenager's murderer, Mohammed D'Ali of Arab origin. He lived in England with the teenager and both came to Brazil, Mohammed was addicted in cocaine and being drugged committed the murder when she decided denounce him to the police for fear of being arrested by involvement with drug, he cut the her body to transport in a suitcase and he played him in a river. .
To inform you read the report that shows the number of murders committed in the world and see that three North American cities is mentioned and no Brazilian city is mentioned in the matter.
