10 pts! What do you think of my poem about Toronto? |
Toronto
Driving over crackling white snow,
Comforted because she's here,
Again guiding me where to go,
Blissful, the intentions sincere.
Here trees stand in the water,
My lover, the city that I live in,
Tomorrow again I'll have her,
Renewing the same where it begins.
Lost now through Forest Hill,
Where she knows my good deeds,
Dundas where my soul stood still,
Smiling at harmonious diversity.
Turning through bending roads,
Gazing at stunning stars above,
She asks me to come back home,
Where I'll always have her love. |

I can't be sure if you are discussing Toronto of yesteryears or of today, yet you know your Toronto history!
Here trees stand in the water: that's where Toronto get its name from "tkaranto" a Mohawk word meaning "trees in the water".
However "atonronton" is a Huron word meaning "plenty" or can mean "plenty of people"
Lost now through Forest Hill, Where she knows my good deeds: Plenty of movers and shakers live in that area. Perhaps you are mentioning charitable contributions?
Dundas where my soul stood still, Smiling at harmonious diversity: Dundas Road was built by Lord Simcoe who wanted to establish a military outpost in case of war with America. Now it hosts ethnic cultures along, especially in the Dundas and Spadina area. Dundas is also near Kensington Market.
There are very few poems and literacy work done with Toronto in the setting, so it's nice to see another one come along. Keep up the good work! |

I like it very much. It has a little ring of Robert Frost about it. It certainly gives the sense that you love your city. |

Very Good!
And although I have only visited Toronto 5 times, it paints a much nicer and eloquent picture than my 5 disastrous trips!
So you caught the mood of what TO should be! |
