Frankly
if you are asking if all Canadians are pot heads, no that is incorrect. how ever it is true that we most definitely have a drug problem, especially strong in Vancouver and the city's down east (Toronto, and that area). but i cant say that our situation with drugs is drastically better or worse than the U.S. unless you met a group of really weird ones, i can assure you that Canadians do not go a purposely let themselves be know as pot heads, in terms of an international image.

nope thats not true

No more than any other group of people. Some do, some don't, most of us really don't need it or bother with it.

No. We like beer. Unless you live near Lindsay Ontario in which case they are all potheads.

Bored @ Work
nope beer over pot anyday...........even living in Lindsay

Jack
Posession is not illegal here but I wouldn't say that a lot of us are into pot.
Probably the same percentage as those who like to drink.

It's really no big deal here like it is in the USA.

That may be the perception from the rest of the world due to a few incidents:

1) Our olympic snowboarder who lost his gold medal as a result of testing positive for canabis. Snowboarders are looked upon like the surfers are in California. People think that they are all on pot and just out for a thrill.

2) The creation of some political parties here in Canada whose platform is to legalize marijuana. Unlike the US that has two major parties and a few independents, Canada has as many as six parties that compete to try and win a seat in the legislative assembly (like the senate to Americans).

3) Possession of marijuana here in small quantities might simply be confiscated or destroyed without charges being laid. Usually it only results in a fine, but no jail time and no permanent record for drug offenses.

In general, Canada has a "laissez-faire" attitude about marijuana, but I would not exactly call us potheads. I can count on one hand the amount of people I know who tried pot, and only one does it on a regular basis to the point that I would consider him "addicted".

Of course, don't try to get into a car and drive if you've had a buzz all day. It is DUI whether you are drunk, stoned, or high and you will be arrested if caught.

what's your question?

Hey- I live in Lindsay and I don't smoke pot, I drink beer. Altho, i did have pot plants in the garden when I moved here but hey, I don't do it.

Inquirer
Yes, especially in Quebec. Most of French Canadian baby boomers who are governing the province at this moment have try smoking marijuana during their university years.
