About Vancouver, B.C ?

I have been researching and reading quite a bit about Vancouver, B.C as I plan to move there. But alot of videos in youtube, have comments showing negativity towards Vancouver. How it rains too much, and it is really boring, etc. Is this true? Can someone please generally summarize life there? Is it a nice place to live? or not?

i've lived in vancouver almost all my life. (im a senior in high school)
yes i know, everybody DOES complain about the rain and boringness.
it does rain frequently but it's not that horrible- there's summers when theres plenty of sun. throughout the year there's also many cloudy days. it's just that vancouver rains more than other places- but i enjoy the rain so i don't have much to complain about.
vancouver doesnt have as many touristic sites as other big cities, but it's a really nice place to live in . of course that depends on which area you're planning to move to. downtown isn't the best place to live, i live in the kitsilano area which is on the westside- a more high-end side.
stuff to do here.. you can go to PNE, Playland, bike around Stanley Park, feed the birds on Granville Island, go shopping at Metrotown, and that's about it. those are the main components of my life, haha. there's also some horseback riding here-but u have to search for it.
there ARE random activies to entertain ourselves with, just that most people don't bother to search it out or they don't know what they want to do! plus you can always bus to other parts of vancouver such as coquitlam, burnaby... and find things to do there!

so, to sum it up- my life in vancouver's very peaceful. people are nice, there are some homeless here and there but they don't bother you. if you have any questions, feel free to email me.

It is true about the rain part. It is part of life here. But it's not that bad. Think about colder places. Half the year, it's all snow. Here in vancouver, it just happens to be rain instead of snow (only get a few weeks worth of good snow here, not including the mountains). But there is still a lot of sunshine so no worries about that. The stuff about it being boring would only be true if you are into things like amusement parks. If you need a Disneyland or a Six Flags, then this is not the place for you. But other than that, it is a wonderful place here. It's very laid back and peaceful. And very green too. So much nature everywhere! Mountains, Beaches, Forests, etc. So yeah, awesome place to live, just don't expect some crazy busy place like New York.

Maybe???
Instead of snowing in late fall or early winter such as in Calgary, Vancouver gets a lot of rain. The temperature is much milder than eastern Canada. Vancouver gets about half the amount of rain that Seattle gets.
There is much more to do here than in ANY city I have been to except Tokyo, Japan.
For example, play tennis on a downtown court, rent a bowling lane on Granville Street at Robson, go for a swim or play any kind of sport at UBC, ride your bike around the seawall in Stanley Park, get a fabulous view from Grouse Mountain, walk peacefully through Queen Elizabeth Park, go to Steveston Village in Richmond(suburb of Vancouver), shop on Granville Island, in Chinatown and Gastown, have dinner on top of Harbour Towers or the Park Hotel.

The negative part is that Vancouver has become so unaffordable that the number of homeless people is increasing very quickly. Also, crime is on the rise because druggies need money to pay the dealers for their drugs. There is open drug dealing going on in the slum area of the downtown eastside, but in any other area it is still safe.

They're right about the rain part. It does rain a lot in winter. It doesn't usualy rain heavily but it can go on for days without stopping. Summer can be incredible with no rain for weeks at a time. As for boring, well, some people can be bored anywhere. There's lots to do in Vancouver, indoors and out, and I really can't see how you could call it boring.

I LOVE VANCOUVER!!!!!!!!!!! i was born there and now live in kentucky (big mistake thanks to my parents) but anyway, yes its great there, it does rain a lot but its still fun, its the video game capital of the world and is where most canadian films are shot. it does get cold but there's so many things to do there its ridiculous. trust me, you'll love it!

Its a really nice place to live. At least for me, but I was born here. And it does rain too much, but I am used to it. You have to take in to account that Vancouver isn't nearly as big as most cities in the US or wherever (metro pop of around 2mil) so it doesn't have as much to do but it makes up for it in all the outdoor activities you have access to.

Vancouver is beautiful, but rather unexciting. I know because I moved here from the Eastern US, which was ugly and unexciting.
The thing is, summer is short, and there is a heck of a lot of rain. When it's not raining it can be gray for weeks on end.
The people tend to be odd, but not unfriendly, it could be because of the weather.
It is way overpriced as well. Most things are expensive, especially housing. Rentals are getting scarce and home prices are ridiculous.
