Kindergarten to grade 12 is the common years of education in Canada (including Ontario- it no longer goes to grade 13). Quebec has a different sort of education system.
University and college is not for free. |

In Ontario, high school (both public and Catholic) goes to grade 12 only (the old grade 13 ended years ago to be replaced with OAC which ended a few of years back). So, Junior Kindergarten, then Senior Kindergarten and then grades 1 through 12 are free. |

Free in Quebec??? NOT!! I live in Quebec, my kids are in elemetary school, and I pay 200$ each a year just to get them in school. Ok, it's not much, but I still would not say it's free. |

Depends on the province. In Quebec, high school goes to grade 11, and then two years of CEGEP, which you have to pay for. In Ontario high school goes to grade 13.
Other provinces vary. You may want to do a Google search province by province.
Good luck. |

School is "free" up to grade 12, for Canadian citizens and legal residents who live in the school district.
Foreign nationals (ncluding Americans) are welcome in our schools. There are many high school students who come here to go to our schools and live wih a Canadian family to improve their English. Most of the kids come from Taiwan, Japan, and Korea, but they also come from all over the palce.
The homestay fee is CAD750 per month, and the tuition fee is CAD11K per year. That is for the public schools--the private schools charge whatever they want. |

Newfoundland used to pay entirely for university education (for Newfoundland natives studying in the province), up until 1972. Today, they still massively, massively subsidise it. Nowadays it's at about $2800 per year, or a little over 10k for your degree. |

Grades K to 12 are free (paid for by the taxpayers). In Newfoundland I believe the government used to pay for university education or at least they used to. |
