Do your reading now so that you know what you are getting into. You will need a skill to be accepted. Hopefully, you are studying something useful in college, and you will need work experience. |

I moved to Canada about a year ago, and it's been great. I live in Vancouver, and it's a wonderful city. It's very inclusive, you'll feel right at home. It can be a bit expensive here, but there's great transportation connection to the suburbs, where's it's much cheaper to live. Plus the Olympics will be here in a little more than a year!
You don't need to know French at all unless you're moving to Quebec. If you're looking at Quebec though, my Quebecois roommate tells me most people who move to Quebec end up in Montreal. There's a large international presence there, while Quebec City is less international.
If you like New York, I'd suggest checking out Toronto, although for some reason I haven't figured out yet, non-Toronto Canada really doesn't like Toronto.
The most jobs right now are in Alberta, especially in Calgary, because of all the oil there. I don't know what field you're in, so that may or may not help you. There are also lots of seasonal jobs for people who want to work way up north for a few months out of the year.
If you have any other questions about moving from the US to Canada, I'd be glad to help, just email me any time. |

Canada rocks! You should move there! You can move to a big city like toronto move to a french city like quebec or move to a small island like vancover island or winnipeg on the praires. It is safe there and guns are eligal. I love canada! The only thing bad would probally be the climate if u lived in a hot city/state. |

Look up "TN Visa" on line. If your degree is in one of those areas, you can look for work in Canada. If not, it takes several years to immigrate to Canada.
Americans keep forgetting that other countries don't want you any more than the US wants people just moving to the US. |

No need to speak french in most Canadian places... 98% of everyone knows english I would bet. BC is the prettiest province... Vancouver Island is waaayyy pretty. Lots of stuff and many cultures in Vancouver too... altho these places are expensive... altho I am sure not as pricey as NY. I live in Kelowna... the lower middle of BC. Lots of ski hills, and a big lake. Great wather in the summer. |

Weird, i'm from canada but i want to live in America. But Canada is awesome! It's safe anywhere for the most part, we never really have anything bad happen here. But if you were going to move here, i would move to Alberta, (Calgary is the best) lots of country, mountains and its way clean. and another place would be BC, because its so beautiful. |
