It does seem a bit much. If you have a freezer in good working condition, I would suggest that you buy in bulk. Check your flyers in the mail for specials or discounts, as well. In the long run you will reduce your grocery bill by as much as 150 a month. I know that doesn't sound like much, but, with the cost of heating going up, it will help to offset the difference. |

Well, for my hubby, four sons, ages 9, 8, 4 and 4 months, plus our two Bull Mastiffs, we spend around $700. That includes diapers, formula, dog food, toiletries, and cleaning supplies. Perhaps you are shopping at the wrong stores..? I shop between two grocery stores, then go to the others only when I see something in the flyer's that interests me. We eat well balanced, nutritional meals, with all the food groups. I have a son with dietary concerns who needs special things in his school lunches. A thousand dollars a month seems a bit much to me, especially only for four people......... |

I have a wife and a 3 year old boy. We spend about $700 a month on groceries, which I believe is too much.
I say that because we shop at Loblaws - a lovely shopping experience but certainly more expensive than the No Frills down the street.
Next month I want to switch supermarkets to see just how much it saves me. |

My boyfriend and I spend about 600 monthly on food, we have no children. |
