Just like anywhere else, some are rude to Americans, some aren't. |

Montreal is a city full of people from different cultures, if you apply the old adage, treat people like you would like to be treated.. I see you having no problems whatsoever!
Montreal is a great city, been there many times and NEVER had anyone be rude, in fact some went out of their way to assist.
Good Luck, wherever you decide to travel! |

Over the past 15 years and numerous visits, I've probably spent the equivalent of two months in Montreal. I have not once had a problem. Even among French Canadians, Americans are fine as long as we're polite and not shouting pro-Bush slogans. A number of Quebecois even prefer Americans to English-speaking Canadians.
Just be polite. Rudeness atrracts rudeness in many places of this world. |

So you're a liberal American College student huh?
What are you trying to say here exactly?
Looks like you're finally choosing Montreal over Mexico for Spring Break, is that right?
Good for you!
Excellent decision!
Have a great Spring Break in Canada!
P.S. People in my hometown being rude to Americans? I've never noticed it myself but then again, I'm not American so I wouldn't really know anyway... To be perfectly honest, nobody likes loudmouthed or arrogant Americans but that's the case everywhere, not just in Montreal!
So you guys don't fancy Florida this year huh? Which U.S. state are you all from anyways? |

no they are not rude. if you're a person that likes to start fights, then of course you won't be welocomed. but if you wanna go there and party it up and have fun, then you'll have the experience of a lifetime. |

Like all others have said, some people are going to be rude no matter where you go, but Montreal is a very diverse city and tends to be welcoming and friendly towards tourists.
Rudeness aside, have you considered the climate? I'm a Montreal native, so I'm not trying to discourage you from visiting our lovely city, but its nothing like Mexico during spring break. We've had snow into April many a year - so keep that into consideration. If you're looking for a balmy spring break, Montreal is not the place to visit! (If you come in the summer, however, you can enjoy our humidity and heat :P) |

No, we are not rude to Americans. We are not rude to anyone, unless they are rude to us first. We have a thriving tourist industry here, and we are proud of our city. Don't be surprised if someone walks up to you and asks if they can help with your map or give you the directions you need. Enjoy Montreal! |
