I'm an American. But I think Canadians seem to have it more together than we do...plus they have a way cooler music scene. Oh yeah and socialized health care. So yeah I'd say America definitely needs more help. Maybe not by much though |

I'm Canadian so a little bias. In my estimation Canada beats the U. S. hands down in many ways. When we are sick, we don't have to worry about paying doctors or hospitals, those costs are covered by our universal health plan. when we are seniors if we are low income our prescriptions in Ontario are $2.00 and our nursing home fees are paid no matter our income. we are far safer since gun crime statistics are a fraction of what they are in the U. S. Our banking system is considered the best in the world, we have never had a bank go bankrupt. Our court system is far superior a murder case like the O.J. Simpson one would never be permitted to be come a circus as it was in the U. S. We tend be very tolerant of minorities and other social aspects, We not so influenced by bigots. Gay marriage has been legal in Canada for years. Those but a few examples. We realize the world has become smaller and we all need to help other people and countries less fortunate than ourselves. |

Calgary is a joke right now...4 boys in my area have been killed..all neighborhood kids. I expect any day now my brother is next.
Judy, your last three paragraphs make me sick.. so I have three things to say to you.
Speak for yourself..not the rest of us
and please get the hell out.
And just because we don't shove our patriotism down other countries throats doesn't mean we don't have it. Maybe turn on the TV next time team Canada is playing and take a look at all the red. |

Please refrain from making overt generalizations about Canadians. Your comments are very short-sighted.
As for the question itself, we are all citizens of the world. The less time we spend looking for and pointing out superficial and insignificant differences, the more time we all have in making this planet a better place to live. |

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "needs help," but it's all a matter of preference on where to live. I am impartial about opinions of the people, half of my family is from Canada and half is from the U.S., but Canadians and Americans are basically the same, even though Canadians are the brunt of some jokes (which may turn around soon...)
I wouldn't live there, but that's only because I live in Michigan, and can't stand the cold here right now. I am getting out asap.
Most people live along the southern part of Canada. If I lived anywhere, it would probably be either the lower part of Ontario, Toronto area, or Vancouver |

I'm American but I love Canadians and I would recommend moving to Canada as well.
However, I think there are parts of the USA that are at par with living in Canada. These more eco-friendly American towns include but not limited to
"Portland, Maine",
"Eugene, Oregon",
"Fort Collins, Colorado",
"Berkeley, California",
"Asheville, North Carolina",
"Duluth or Minneapolis, Minnesota",
"New Hope, Pennsylvania."
"Athens, Georgia"
Anywhere in Vermont
Anywhere in Washington State
These are some of my favourites (Canadian spelling.....favorites (USA spelling) |

America is really screwed up with everything, but now that Obama's taking
over . Could things be better?
Canada was a better place to live, big time. & honestly still is.
Altough some parts has a lot of crime and everything it's probably
better than some places in the U.S.
Calgary, Alberta right now is ridiculous.
it's soo bad, theres been like 7 killings since this year started. |

The US has always been self reliant even in troubled times. No nation has gone to war for them, no nation has helped bail out their economy. The US is a driving and leading force who has proven time and again they are quite resilient to problems they face alone.
Canada is a different story. We are reliant on the US for economy, business, media and our social structure as we know it. If something affects the US, it will definitely affect Canada as well.
I live in Canada now, however I would rather be in the States. It is called the 'land of opportunity' for a reason. You get paid what you are worth, the judicial system is fair, and there is an opportunity to achieve your dreams. Canada cannot even think of matching those three points at all.
Canadians love to put down Americans and call them ignorant, but in the same light, Canadians are really no different. We don't know much more about the States than we do our own country. I've met many Canadians who don't know how many provinces are in Canada or let alone, that we are composed of territories as well. I'm not saying all Canadians are ignorant, but before pointing the finger, look in the mirror.
Last, Americans have a patriotic pride that Canadians can only dream of having. |

Show me a person who's looking for the best place to live, and I'll show you a person who's going to bring his problems with him and screw up where ever he is. When was the last time anyone actually helped America? Post 9/11? Not so much. We pretty much took care of it ourselves. France kinda helped during the Revolutionary War, but mostly just selling us weapons, so they did it for the money. Nope, America has it's problems, but if the rest of the world would get there own act together, we wouldn't have to keep bailing them out. Then maybe we'd have enough time to fix our own problems. Canada? I don't know. I'm willing to let them deal by themselves too. |
