An employer is very willing to offier me a job in North Battleford, can you tell me what is it like?

The employer wanted me to take my wife, but she doesn't have an employment offer yet. What is the best thing to do?
How much money will I take with me? How much does it cost from Manila to North Battleford? What is the average expenditure in a month for the two of us? Please let me know.

Dear Dong, I don't know where N. Battleford is but you sound despirate and I can only offer you this advice; leave the wife and money at home, only bring a credit card.

If they don't accept credit cards in N. Battleford or you don't have one, stay home with the wife.

I grew up in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, and it's a pretty nice city. The population is around 13 or 14,000 right now, and it's an excellent place to raise a family. The standard of living is pretty average, and it's relatively cheap to live there. As with any city, there are nicer neighbourhoods, but an average house is probably well under the $100,000 mark; probably able to rent a decent three bedroom house for under $800 and a two bedroom apartment for 500-600.
There are a variety of cultures in the city, actually a fair number of immigrant communities, who are active in associations and groups to help out immigrants, do activities and participate in community events. There is good shopping for both groceries and goods, and the prices are really good compared to larger cities. The school systems are very good as well.
Saskatoon is the nearest larger centre, of about 250,000 people, about an hour and a half drive away from North Battleford.
Don't have a clue about the money you will need to take with you, or what flights and moving cost from somewhere so far away.
Probably the two of you could live quite comfortably on $2,000 a month.

Manila, Philippines home to over 10 million people verses in the middle of nowhere, North Battleford, in the middle of nowhere, Saskatchewan. Are you sure your boss likes you?

North Battleford is small, cold in winter like you have never imagined and probably very remote compared to what your used to. The closest city of any decent size is Saskatoon (200,000 people) and that's a 80 minute drive away. Housing is very cheap there but for good reason. Like many small Saskatchewan towns, many people are moving to Alberta.

I would go anyway, she can find a job once there

Standard of living is much higher anywhere in Canada than in Phillipines

I would take about 5,000 cad just to be safe, average expediture I really can't tell, but I don't think it would be expensive
