Anybody else seen " The Northern Lights "?

I was in Canada, serving in the Army.....I staggered out of the Cpl's mess to get some fresh air, after watching Fifi do her dance routine & the boys squirt baby oil all over her.....looked up & Damn!...that's one beautiful sight!...better than Fifi anyhow!

I have vivid memories of seeing "Northern Lights".......(can't resist a stab at "aurora borealis"! ). Long ,long ago, before
WW2 begun; I was living in Treharris, about 16 miles North of Cardiff in South Wales. The show of lights was really unforgettable and my father explained to me that I was seeing something very unusual because the "lights" were never seen this far south to his knowledge!. I wouldn't know where to begin to describe the experience-the memory has stuck for a long l-o-n-g time......and counting!

yes absolutely... when I lived In edmonton, alberta, id see them all the time...

The Aurora Borealis is seen more frequently the farther north you are located. I have occasionally seenthem from Norfolk.

They are more spectacular when the Sun is is putting out sunspots.

Nevertheless, there is so much terrestrial light pollution in our urban environments these days, that sky observation can be quite difficult.

I now live in a town 60 degrees north, but never get to see any sky due to light pollution, but when in the county have seen the Aurora on clear nights, and they are really worth watching.

Keep watching

Yes in Iceland in December 2005. The first night I saw them was just oustide Reykjavik and nobody was sure we would see them because the weather conditions were so bad. The following night I saw them in Reykjavik. Definitely one of the best sights I have seen,

Honky Cat
No but i'm sure it was amazing.

I was hauling fuel from Hay River to Yellowknife, in Canada's Northwest Territories one day in February, it's dark by 2pm at that time of year and the Northern lights were so bright I was able to turn my headlights off and still clearly see the road. They danced across the sky for about a half hour and were the most incredible display. Had many many enjoyable evenings watching the lights, well worth seeing if you have never experienced them.

I saw them years ago on holiday in Yorksire. I couldn't sleep and my mother and sat in the garden talking and watching the stars. I think that was one of the best times of my childhood.
