Legolas' Lover

Anyone from Toronto? Please help!?

I am supposed to visit Toronto, ON in two days for a long weekend. A couple friends backed out last night, and now we can't afford the hotel we were going to stay in. I guess I'm just wondering if any of you live in Toronto, if you know... is there a Budget Inn or a Motel 8 or some other kind of cheapie place to stay right downtown? I would like to be near the entertainment district, or Kensington Market. Also do I have to book in advance, or are there usually hotels with vacancies? Any help would be seriously appreciated! Thanks!

I live in downtown and there are no real cheap hotels downtown. There is a residence/hotel that is $49 a night. There are a number of hostels. One at the corner of King and Spadina comes to mind.

Do a google search.

Contact me if yo want the name of the $49 hotel - I do not have it right now but it is not far from my store.

Good luck. Toronto is a great city to visit.

Hey there's a few cheaper hotel near to Toronto downtown but you could use one of the hostels. they have private rooms and are right in the centre of downtown, there more affordable. The HI Toronto on church and err king <-- don't quote me on that was good and cheep with some cool faces. Toronto's got good transport though so you can get to the downtown quite easy. Id recommend hostels though for cheap and well located accommodation. The canadiana or the HI are probs the best place to stay at.

Yep there's LOADS of budget appropriate hotels all around the city in a lot of amazing areas. It'd be smarter to book in advance probably but you can always take a chance if you'd like...youre bound to find somewhere to stay! Heres a great link... http://travel.yahoo.com/p-hotel-191501848-nearoid-2803016-radius-35-sort-distance-toronto_hotels-i . It lists hotels near Kensington Market...which is definately great to see! I live in toronto and cant get enough of the market and entertainment district. Most hotels are very safe so you cant go wrong.
best of luck :)

Hmm. That's tough. There aren't alot of cheap hotels close to the Entertainment District that I know of. Motel 8s (or 6s) are way out in the country (outside of the GTA to us T.O. residents). The best bet is to find a hotel close to transit, which shouldn't be hard because there's a bus stop within walking distance practically everywhere.

Well most places in the downdown core are quite expensive. There is a holiday inn on king and john street but is more expensive than most holiday inns. there is a novetel hotel on church and esplanade.
The strathcona hotel on york street
Howard Johnson metropolitan rd.
The comfort hotel on charles street
Bond place hotel on dundas
just to name a few you could also try to look for a hotel just a bit outside the city something close to subway so you can make your way down town easily and save money
Anyways hope you have a great timein our city

Check out this link. It's every budget hotel listed on Toronto.com. They won't all be in the entertainment district or in Kensington Market area but you should find a few in those areas.
