Yeah, I'm here, knew you guys would catch up with me sooner or later. Anyway, I moved to Nova Scotia. If you are thinking of moving here, don't. There's no work, the people are weird and raw sewage flows into Halifax Harbour.
Here's what I mean about the people. If you're on the bus talking with your friend and someone else hears you talking, they somehow think they have the right to join right in on your conversation! They also come right out and ask you about personal things in your life when they don't even know you. They ask you why you're doing things a certain way, as if you have to justify yourself to them. They talk about how anyone who has just moved here is 'from away', like they're a space alien or something. I tell them they should see Toronto because everyone is 'from away' there!
My wife (who's from here) agrees with me, that most people here are unusual. She has relatives in Sydney who live on a street in Whitney Pier where everyone is dying of cancer or has a brain tumour. There's a large mining operation nearby which is causing health problems because of the metals. They've been asked to consider moving down to Halifax to get away from the pollution but they refuse, saying they'd never leave their home. If they sleep with the windows open, they have to clean rust off their floors in the morning! If this was happening in the states, there'd be protest marches, the government would be involved and you'd hear about it on the news.
I stay here because my ex moved here with my daughter. My little girl was six when they moved out here and she saw me every weekend. It would have been very hard for her if I'd stayed behind. I got married to a local girl five years ago. |

Midtown Toronto, checking-in!
You might like to look at the web space I've dedicated to this city, which I love:

The photos are pretty good (if I must say so myself) and the blog has good value restaurant tips. |

Hi Erin...I'm from London, ON...so close...I guess...
I just wanted to respond to SKYPILOT....
My family is from Whitney Pier, and we are all dropping off like flies of cancer...I wonder what the connection is...I was wondering if anyone is doing anything to look into that. Other thing...regarding people interjecting into your conversations etc. It is Nova Scotia...that is just how bluenosers are....that's what makes us, us....it's not a bad thing...everyone is super friendly that way...you see other bluenosers/capers wouldn't care if someone joined their conversation....heck...us displaced Capers that are in Ontario etc...do it to other people here and they just don't get it...remember...you are their land...it's not the other way around...remember, when in Rome! =) Cheers! |
