Generalizations (like your question) are dangerous. Some Americans are, some are not and some don't have any opinion at all. During a recession or a depression, people everywhere have a tendency to become more nationalistic, especially when jobs and opportunities that have 'always' been there suddenly dry up. They are not becoming more anti-Canadian as much as they are circling their own wagons against a recession/depression just as we Canadians are trying to protect our own assets and holdings in the economic picture. |

I'm not sure I'd say "anti-Canadian", but I definitely think there is a large majority who feel superior to Canadians, or view them as silly.
I'm American so I can vouch for having witnessed biased comments about Canadians, although I think Canada is great, and if Palin runs for president next term I'm gonna move there! |

Not really. Some are sick of the "bash the Americans" attitude that is prevalent in Canada and are just ignoring Canada altogether. Dr. Johns answer is typical of those types. (I wonder if he finds it puzzling that the US has 309 Nobel laureates to Canada's 17?) Canadians are the same as Americans. Those who stayed loyal to the crown after the US Revolutionary war went to Canada (United Empire Loyalists).
The US doesn't really give it much thought. We will still defend them if needed, and we are their biggest trading partner. |

It's extremely comical to see Americans hate Canada.
I've only seen a couple times in my journeys down South. Online you may see it more. Just look at the comments at the peopel that are "anti-Canadian", and it'll show you the types of peopel that don't like us. haha they dont' know anything about us, just the stuff they hear on Fox News.
Stuff like "We Protect Canada"... although I guarantee they couldn't pick out a single time in history where that has happened... mainly becuase it has never happened. Either that or ridiculouslyl trivial things like "their money looks weird", or "they're just silly".
Come on... if that's the type of uneducated trash that don't like us... I'm fine by that, I don't think I want them associated with us anyways. |

I apologize for a few fellow americans above me.
I honestly do not believe so. Americans poke fun at times like 'you' do to 'us' of course(like a few have above). I will say though, that I think American's opinions of our neighbors to the south has turned more sour lately. |

TAPDATASS: Protecting us? Nobody wants to kill us because we don't piss other countries off. It's not just us going in and out of your country whenever we want, you are allowed to come into Canada whenever you want too. I don't think they are becoming more anti - Canada, we are just seen sort of as a joke which is fine with me because I love living here and we have a pretty good quality of life. |

Overall... I do not think so... the States is like anywhere else... some people hate things some do not. Look at us in Canada, some people hate the States, some do not, some want to move there... Some Canadians hate Canada, this question is hard to answer as everyone has their own opinion. |

Sorry but this is dumb.
the yanks are not anti-canadian. in fact, they don't care about us. they just want/need our resources...that's it.
We, Canadians are too proud and think that the states even think about us.
We are the ones that are brought up to be anti- american. in doing so, we are trying to preserve our minute culture and not to be over taken by their culture. which is what happened. |

They pledge utter devotion & respect to the queen and the commonwealth, how can we not criticize them?
Until they become a republic, I will continue to mock Canada and it's people and it's queer proceedings.
Free Ireland, Scotland & Wales from the tyranny that is England.
God Bless America and it's courageous and proud people. |

No, Americans are much too nice. Sometimes too nice for our own #%&! good. If Americans saw how anti-American the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp) news was, they would be shocked. Many times, there is no effort at all to hide how biased they are. And our employment/immigration policies allow Canadians to come to America to work, earn top $ and take our jobs. OTOH, if an American wanted to work in Canada, he'd find one obstacle after another. Our 2 countries share a common language and common culture. But in the US, we are handicapped by the belief that all wild opinions are equally valid and that we should not criticize another country. Canada and many other nations don't share this way of thinking. And America is at a disadvantage. |
