If you're into Canadian's clichés, here's some: hockey, beer, snow, Mounted Police, monopoly money (worth as much as US these days!), Céline, the McKenzie brothers ... want some more, eh?
What about football crazed people in the US?? |

All according to who you ask....I think in Europe Canadians are best known for sending their young men to die in wars to grant freedom to many opressed countries, in other parts of the world it is a place people strive to come to so they can achieve a higher standard of living and enjoy the freedom to practice their religion and beliefs in peace, it is a country where, yes, you can even celebrate being a hockey crazed fanatic if you wish... |

That is a generalization and an insult.
I also like curling, skiing, snow-mobiling, and snowball fights. |

Basketball and baseball originated in Canada. We have our CFL, and I am Canadian and dont like hockey.
Generalizations are born out of ignorance and really insult the person saying them and the people they are aimed at. People who dont know anything spout off generalizations, educated intelligent people know better.
Anyone reading this is going to roll their eyes and say "what a m******, and their respect for you hits the bottom of the scale"
Speaking of ignorant and uneducated, intracircumcordei
If the Canadian dollar equals Petro dollars than the US dollar must equal McDonald coupons seeing as it worth LESS than the Cdn dollar now - what an idiotic comment, speaks volumes about you doesnt it? LOL |

Did you know that Basketball (game note the ball, lol) was originated in Canada?
UN ranked Canada as the best place to live for 6th consecutive year and it is the second largest country after Russia. Unfortunatley just like Russia the place is cold so I'm staying in the good old US of A. :-D |

I don't think so.
I think that Euro's and South Americans are far more crazed with their football (soccer)
I don't really see too much furror around here for hockey.. during cup time the flags pop out of the odd car, but you see the same thing during world cup here ...
It m ight be a little different in the cities WITH the teams though.. all what 4 or 7 of them.
As for things that Canada is known for these days
Kanadahar
Not having the North Pole (truely the russians have had a citizen there for years now called old st. nicolas (just think of the issues this causes for Canada post.. now having to route mail to Santa Via the russian post office. - but atleast now it will get delivered regularly.. bad joke) of course santa has his own issues with global warming and the melting of the polar ice cap anyways..
not much is really happening with Canada's image that I've seen lately. but I think you'd have to ask people around the world what they think of Canada... I think Canada has fallen from being a third party government in identity to a second rate block partner.
Canadian dollar = petrodollars |
