Are Canadians HAPPY that -30 degree temperatures will be coming soon?

If Canadians went to a place that was 30 Celsius and humid, and then they returned home to temperatures of -50 degrees, would they say it's cold outside?

Or would they still be used to Canadian winter?

There's something I LOVE about driving on roads that are covered in 6 inches of snow and the wheels start skidding, and you plug in your car.

And I just LOVE that so much!!!! and everyone's throwing the snow around.

Sure, -30 keeps the riff-raff out.

Good day.

They better be. I'd kill for weather like that here. The basement bands perfecting their sound. The children playing. The shoveling, the icy roads, the 2 feet layer of clothes... Nevermind.

Haligh
-30? LOL thats nothing.
I love winter. Best time of the year!

I'm Canadian and I personally HATE temperatures any higher than 15. That's only my opinion, though. When it's around 15 a lot of people say it's cold. :P

I look forward to our big winters, though, very much. We don't quite get temperatures of -50 though. XD

It typically gets to be -40 where I live in Canada. I love it. That's when you can see the northern lights the best.

They may be cold but they can happy knowing they have free health care. Which is more than I can say for the U.S.

yes, i am.

i enjoy all aspects of winter. it's my favourite season. i like the cold.

and ps-- i would MUCH prefer the temperature to be -30, rather than +30.

going on vacation to a warm place does not take away natural feelings to the cold. (ps-- not all Canadians can handle the cold the same. southern ontarians, and British Colombians have milder winters than the rest of the country. (in BC it rarely goes below 0C)

Yeah, it keeps my Alexander Keith's IPA cold, eh?

I love winter. So no matter what the temperatureure is I'm outside. Let the snow come!!!!!!!!!

Crazy!!
I'm NOT looking forward to the horribly cold weather, and the need to plug in my car and spend time cleaning snow and ice from off and around it before going anywhere. And skidding tires on the snow? No thanks!
I'd be happy to migrate somewhere else for a few months, return here for a white Christmas for a couple of days, and then leave again until the snow is all gone.

I hate winter with a passion. However, it very very rarely gets down to -30.

I dont live in Canada, but I live 5 minutes from the Border in Buffalo and I have met some canadians and from what i hear THEY LOVE IT! I am from Missouri and moved up here to Buffalo, Ny and I am used to the humid weather and I am thrilled to have WINTER here!!

bryans83
In Edmonton the Average high temperature in November is 0°C, in December its about -5°C with February probably being the coldest around -15°C.

Winters are not cold, there are cold snaps and people's perception is that because there is snow outside it's too cold. It doesn't bother me that the weather is cold, it's simply part of life. The things that concern me in Winter are the inexperienced drivers, or drivers who do not know the appropriate way to drive on slippery roads.

Each Year a city like Edmonton will experience weeks in the High 20's and even as much as mid to high 30's (Celcius) during the months of July and August, in September High 20's are not unheard of so regardless it's temperatures we adjust to yearly. and It's never -50°C its usually only about -25°C as a low, and with windchill could feel as cold as -50°C which has only occured maybe once in our history.

itssoeasy
Bring it on betch!!

-30? -50? Are you on crack?

I live on the East Coast and I've pretty much never experienced anything under -10.

No we're not happy about it . Thrilled more like it. I live in the world's coldest capital-Ottawa. You dress the part, enjoy the sports and activities and worship those brisk cold sunny days. Anything else would be unCanadian and well, just plain woossie!
Winterpeggers know what I am talking about!

Love it! The cold does not bother me. I rarely even wear a coat unless I will be out for extended periods of time. I got sick of summer fast this year.

6:32 pm, and already dark! Yay!

Caitlin
I wonder what the moose would think...eh?

Jen
Ugh. Dont remind us...
6 inches! Try 4 feet. And salt everywhere, till the bottom drops right out of your car. It is fun in small doses but the budget for clearing the streets runs out midwinter.

NO, Republicans, do NOT flee here please. Along with snow, we have:

Gun laws
No death penalty
Young offenders act
Treatment not incarceration for non-violent drug users
Immigration and diversity welcome
Mosques as well as churches or synagogues
Socialist health care!!!
:-)

I would be if I were in Canada. Beats the hot summer anytime. I'm thinking about going there if Obama wins Nov 4 election. Let's all flee the country and get cold together!
