Are bars/liquor stores strict on the drinking age in Montreal or Canada?
Bars and liquor stores, yes. Too much chance of being caught.
Same goes for chain depanneurs (like Couche-Tard). (Convenience stores if you don't know what I'm talking about.)
But some of the little depanneurs might not check...And I don't think you can get in trouble for trying to buy alcohol underage if you fail to actually buy it. I think it's only the store that can get in trouble.

Pretty severe ya, But here the legal age for drinking and clubbing is 18...

yeah, but there always are those little ghetto ones owned by asians or indians that sell to minors anyways.
and they're not bars or liquor stores, they,re deps.
and they dont sell more than 10% i think.

I would say liquor stores yes, but bars are so-so. It depends on the bar really. Typically if you go after about 9 or 10 there is a bouncer near the front door that will probably ask you for ID. But some bars are more lax than others, and if you go earlier you have more of a chance of getting in since it is still more of a 'dinner' hour.

They are very strict. According to the law they are supposed to ID anyone under 25. The bar is liable and will lose their liquor license if they are caught serving to underage.

if you can produce a proof of age (18 and over ) then you will be fine. But in bars all across Canada you might be refused a drink if you have already reached well over the limit for driving or if you are disruptive.

It often depends. Some provinces have provincial-run "liquor commissions," which always ID since it's their mandate. But almost any big city will have a few beer stores and bars with lax rules.
