Are canadians still bitter with the name rogers centre?

the name skydome was used from 1989-2005. ted rogers bought the arena and renamed it rogers centre for three years. that's not right. fill me in.

Nobody calls it the Roger's centre. It was just silly to try to change the name like that... at the very least they could have tried to do the Rogers Skydome, or Rogers Dome or something. There's a terrible trend for renaming buildings with company names in this city.

Mug R
Many locals including myself refuse to call it Roger's centre, it will always be skydome!! Ted Rogers likes to brag he got it for 25 million when it originally cost tax payers 580 million, which pisses most people off. Im all for Rogers helping out the city and possibly bringing an NFL team here, but plastering your name all over everything is TACKY and doesnt serve the city well IMHO. Its almost as annoying as TRUMP in NYC. Dont forget, they are not even called the blue jays anymore, they are Roger's Blue Jays.

I agree with Mug R, mainly because it was called the Skydome ever since I was born. And now it sort of feels like someone just took it away and made it their own...

Ajidamoon
No regular citizen actually calls it the Roger's center. I actually find it quite arrogant of him to re-name it after himself.

Mug R you are damn right
i don't know about no Rogers Center
Rogers f**ed up my phone so I'm not gonna promote the Rogers Center
it was the Skydome from as long as i can remember and in my mind it still is

TRUTH IS RELATIVE

I'm not. Frankly I don't care what it is called as long as they have fun entertainment playing inside.

It will always be the SkyDome to us.

And the SaddleDome in Calgary will always be the Saddledome, no matter what ridiculous sign the people at Pengrowth put on the building.
